About

A Coach Who Understands Every Stage of Chess Improvement

I'm IM Kushager Krishnater, a professional chess trainer from India and the World's Youngest FIDE Trainer. Over the past five years, I have worked with players across the full chess spectrum — from complete beginners and club players to national champions, grandmasters, and some of the strongest players in the world.

My work as Chief Openings Coach for Singapore's National Team and my seconding experience with players such as Arjun Erigaisi, Vidit Gujrathi, Koneru Humpy, and Abhimanyu Puranik have given me a close look at how elite chess preparation really works. But strong coaching is not about copying what super-GMs do. It is about knowing what each student needs at their current stage.

That is the foundation of my coaching. I study your games, understand your natural style, identify the patterns behind your mistakes, and build a practical training plan around you. Some students need sharper calculation. Some need better openings. Some need structure in the middlegame. Some need confidence, discipline, or a clearer way to study.

My goal is simple: to help you make better decisions at the board and become a stronger, more complete chess player.

Personalized Training Plans

No two players improve in the same way. Your plan is built around your games, your goals, your schedule, and the recurring mistakes that are holding you back.

All Levels Welcome

From beginners and adult improvers to ambitious juniors and titled players, the coaching is adapted to your current strength and learning style.

Natural Style First

I help you develop your natural chess identity — attacking, positional, dynamic, or technical — while systematically fixing the gaps in your game.

Elite Experience, Practical Teaching

My work with grandmasters and national teams gives me elite-level insight, but every lesson is made practical, understandable, and useful for your level.

Teaching Methodology

A Training Plan Built Around Your Games, Not Generic Lessons

Most players do not improve because they lack information. They improve when they understand what is going wrong in their own games and train those areas with structure. My coaching starts with your games, your decisions, and your recurring patterns — then turns them into a clear improvement plan.

01

Game Diagnosis First

We begin by looking at your recent games to identify the real reasons you are losing points. It may be calculation, opening choices, poor piece placement, time pressure, endgame technique, or unclear decision-making.

02

Personalized Roadmap

After understanding your strengths and weaknesses, I create a training direction for you. This may include opening work, calculation training, strategic themes, endgame practice, or tournament preparation.

03

Understanding Over Memorization

Especially in openings, the goal is not to memorize endless lines. You will learn the ideas, structures, plans, and typical mistakes behind your repertoire so you can make good decisions even when the opponent leaves theory.

04

Practical Middlegame Training

Many players know openings but struggle once the real game begins. We work on plans, pawn structures, weak squares, piece activity, attacking chances, defensive resources, and converting better positions.

05

Calculation and Decision-Making

You will learn how to choose candidate moves, compare options, calculate forcing lines, avoid common blind spots, and make cleaner decisions under time pressure.

06

Homework and Follow-Up

Improvement happens between lessons too. You receive practical tasks, positions, model games, or study directions so that each session leads to visible progress.
